Translink Strike Update – Letter for Principals 16.05.22
Letter to schools re Translink strike and public exams
The Education Authority (EA) has been notified by Translink that their bus drivers who are members of the
GMB and Unite trade unions have voted to take strike action in relation to 2021 pay.
This will result in all Translink bus services being withdrawn from Tuesday 17th May to Monday 23rd May 2022. Translink continue to engage with Trade Unions to try and avert this action.
Pupils who use any Translink bus service for any element of their journey are likely to be impacted and
parents should make other transport arrangements for these dates.
This includes pupils who connect with Translink buses using an EA yellow bus. As EA cannot guarantee
pupils could complete their journey to and from school, even if the EA yellow bus is running, parents should
make alternative arrangements for the whole of their child’s journey.
Parents should follow Translink’s social media channels and website over the coming weeks and start to
plan now for their alternative transport arrangements.
Translink has advised that train services will not be affected by the industrial action.
—————————
We will continue to keep you updated in relation to this and communicate any further updates. Thank you
in advance for your understanding and support.
Yours Sincerely,
Robbie McGreevy
EA Assistant Director, Corporate HR and Business Partnering, Human Resources

Study Skills Course
As we approach a very busy time in your schools’ calendar with Term/Mock/GCSE/A’ Level exams only 10 weeks away, we have developed a new course to support revision; “Study Skills”.
We are extremely conscious that the past 2 years in relation to Covid/home schooling has been so difficult for our young people and for many this is the first return to formal exams, therefore if in a small way we can offer our support and encouragement to your pupils entering this revision period with this study skills pack.
The new “Study Skills” short course is targeted at Year 10 – 14 pupils. This course is designed to help pupils plan for their upcoming exams and teach some revision techniques to aid learning at home.
During this short course you will have the opportunity to take part in several activities including creating your very own study zone, figuring how your brain works, creating a range of study materials using our free downloadable study pack, learning some recall strategies and how to reduce stress during studying.
Course Content
This course contains five lessons
· Lesson 1: Creating the perfect study zone
· Lesson 2: How our minds learn
· Lesson 3: Study strategies
· Lesson 4: Recall strategies
· Lesson 5: Looking after your wellbeing
Course Learning Objectives
At the end of this short course, pupils should:
· understand how to plan for exams.
· create a range of materials that will aid revision.
· be able to use recall strategies effectively.
