RE Programme

 

At Post 16 the R.E Programme has key features:

. An adult parish-based programme.

. Teachers as facilitators.

. Wide range of speakers and organizations.

. Personal, social and moral issues.

. Building community in Year 13.

. Students plan, implement and evaluate.

 

Outreach projects are designed to complement the Year 13 Programme.

Students choose one option from the list below and are invited to become involved in outreach to the local and wider community.

1. Human Rights Programme – formation of Junior School students.

2. Faith-friend to a P. 4 child in Loreto P.S. (Preparing for First Communion).

3. Faith-friend to a P.7 child in Loreto P.S. (Preparing for Confirmation).

4. Friend to a Class 1 or 3 child in Arvalee School.

5. Friend to the elderly in Hillbank Fold.

6. I.T. – Dissolving Boundaries Through Technology Project. Link with Mid West School for the Hearing Impaired, Limerick.

7. Link with The Sunshine Foundation – Romania.

8. St. Vincent de Paul (Loreto Youth Conference).

 

The Year 14 R.E. programme consists of four units which rotate every six weeks. The units are devised as direct preparation for the transition to college and cover social and moral issues and some of the challenges faced.

The units are delivered to groups of 15-20 students to allow for maximum discussion and for effective peer group ministry. This programme includes a residential retreat in Linsfort, Co. Donegal.
