Key Skills

What are Key Skills?

Key Skills are qualifications which encourage students to develop essential transferable skills that can help to improve learning and performance in education, training, employment and life. AS students in Loreto have the opportunity to gain experience and qualifications in the Key Skills of: Application of Number, Communication and Information Technology.

To show that they have achieved skills in these areas students present a portfolio of evidence for assessment and sit an external examination.

This demonstrates that students can:
? Obtain and interpret different types of information.
? Use, develop and communicate information.
? Effectively present the results of their work.

All students are entered at Level 3 - equivalent to an A level standard. Each Key Skill is worth 20 UCAS points. Students will be able to update the level of skills in university/college or in the work place, as these skills are recognised as an important part of lifelong learning.
