 Transfer 2017
Information and Registration Pack for Transfer 2017 can be found on the Post Primary Transfer Consortium website.

The closing date for the Entrance Assessment is Friday 23rd September at 2:00pm.

As advised at the Transfer Meeting for Parents May 2016 parents are encouraged to enter their children for the Entrance Assessment until a decision has been made on the Development Proposal for Loreto Grammar School Omagh to remove the use of academic selection on a phased basis.

The admissions criteria to admit girls to the school outlined below will remain until further notice:

1. Applicants in rank order of achievement based on the combined Standardised Age Score achieved in the GLA Entrance Assessment set by the school up to the number of places stated by DE for admissions to Year 8 (125) in 2017.  Higher scores will precede lower scores.

2. If there are more applicants with a particular combined Standardised Age Score than places remaining then girls with that score will be selected according to the following criteria applied in the order set down below:-

2.1 Girls who at the date of their application have another girl of the family (as defined by DE in Transfer 2010 Guidance and Circular 2012/14) attending as a pupil in the school or have been selected for admission to the school in the coming school year.

2.2 Girls who are the first girl in the family to transfer to secondary education.

2.3 Girls who are the youngest according to birth date as entered on the birth certificate with the youngest being admitted first. This criterion will alternate between youngest and eldest in subsequent years.

If there are more girls satisfying any one of the above criteria 2.1 to 2.3 than there are places available, then the remaining criteria will become sub-criteria and applied successively in the order set out until the final selection is completed.

Loreto Grammar School

Welcome to Loreto Grammar School Omagh

Our school has a long and rich tradition of excellence based on the Loreto ethos and philosophy of education. As an 11-18 school we enjoy the mix of young and more adult students. We support each other in learning and discovery and the positive influence creates a friendly, caring and disciplined community which has its fair share of drama, intrigue, suspense and fun. We celebrate as well as study and given that the school has 890 talented students there are plenty of opportunities. We always seek to broaden our experiences of education within a local and global context and encourage each other to be active participants in a wide range of extra curricular activities. We are committed to nurturing the unique talents, gifts and abilities of everyone within our lived Catholic faith community, and to empowering each other to share responsibilities in home, parish life, and the world of work.

I hope you enjoy browsing through our material and catching a glimpse of life within this wonderful school.
