Chemistry is the study of elements and the compounds they form. As a fundamental science it is involved in nearly every facet of everyday life. Almost every new technological change and important discovery has its foundation in chemistry. Chemists influence our lives and make the world a better place to live in.

AS 1: Basic Concepts in Physical and Inorganic Chemistry – Written paper containing multiple choice (20 marks) and structured questions (80 marks), 1hr 30mins, 35%of AS, 17.5% of A’ Level, available January and Summer. AS 2: Further Physical and Inorganic Chemistry – Written paper containing multiple choice (20marks) and structured questions (80 marks) 1hr 30mins, 35% of AS, 17.5% of A’ Level, available January and Summer.
AS 3: Internal Assessment – Consists of 2 practical tasks (54 marks) and a planning exercise (36 marks), 2hrs 30mins, 30% of AS, 15% of A’ Level, available Summer only.

A2 1: Periodic Trends and Further Organic, Physical and Inorganic Chemistry – Written paper containing multiple choice (20 marks) and structured questions (100 marks), 2hrs, 20% of A’ Level, available January and Summer.A2 2: Analytical, Transition metals, Electrochemistry and Further Organic Chemistry Written paper containing multiple choice (20 marks) and structured questions (100 marks), 1hr 30mins, 20% of A’ Level, available Summer only. ANY OTHER INFORMATION Chemistry tests students’ powers of analysis and their ability to apply understanding of concepts and relevant knowledge to different situations. Practical skills are developed further with more wide ranging and demanding tasks.
